England - Yorkshire Dales to Lake District

Our next stop was only 5 minutes drive away in East Witton. The Jervaulx Abbey ruins is another of the great Cistercian abbeys of Yorkshire and was dedicated to St Mary in 1156. Amazingly it is privately owned by the Burdon family since 1971.
